About Us

The Electricity Interconnector Alliance Europe (EIAE) is an Interconnector Transmission System Operator (TSO) cooperation.

We bring together key players in the European energy landscape to foster collaboration and advance the development of electricity interconnectors.

Mission and Purpose

The purpose of EIAE is to promote the development of electricity interconnectors and to advocate for a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory regulatory framework for Interconnector Transmission System Operators across Europe.

The Alliance Aims to:

Support Development & Integration

Support the development and integration of cross-border electricity interconnectors as key enablers of a connected, resilient, and decarbonized European energy system.

Ensure Regulatory Recognition

Ensure that regulation and market design recognize the unique role and challenges of Interconnector TSOs.

Advocate for Level Playing Field

Advocate for a level playing field for interconnectors, regardless of ownership structure or location.

Represent Collective Voice

Represent the collective voice of Interconnector TSOs in EU policy discussions and regulatory consultations.

The Context We Work In

EIAE's work is aligned with the European Union's strategic objectives, in particular:

The EU Action Plan for Grids by the European Commission, which identify interconnectors as critical for achieving climate neutrality and energy security.
The Action Plan for Affordable, Secure and Sustainable Energy, promoting increased cross-border electricity flows and efficient grid utilization.
The Renewed Agenda for European Union - United Kingdom cooperation Common Understanding, which outlines joint ambitions for energy cooperation, including interconnection and market integration.
